Salon suites · Front Street, Natchitoches · Since 1954

Pin curls since 1954.

Twelve independent stylists, each in their own pink-tiled suite, inside the beauty parlour Grandmother Laroux opened on Front Street in 1954.

Est. 1954

Same pink tile. Same hood dryers. Brand-new way to work.

Odile Laroux opened The Powder Room in 1954 with six chairs, four hood dryers and a pink tile floor she imported from New Orleans. For fifty years it was where Natchitoches came for Saturday sets, wedding updos and Christmas Festival curls.

In 2016 her granddaughter Delphine restored the building and rebuilt it as twelve private salon suites. The tile, the dryers and the neon sign are original. Inside each suite is an independent stylist with their own specialty, their own prices and their own book.

My grandmother got her Saturday set here in 1962. Now I get mine in the same pink room. Delphine even uses the same hood dryer.

We rented the whole parlour for my bridal shower. Pin curls, champagne and the old jukebox. Perfect.

I moved my whole book into Suite 5 and doubled my income in a year. Best decision of my career.
