Our story

Pecan Street opens as a two-chair barbershop. Haircuts are a quarter; shaves are fifteen cents.

The back room becomes a beauty salon with hood dryers and a pink wall that still hides under the paint.

Downtown empties out. The shop nearly closes; one barber keeps the lights on.

Walt and June buy the shop, the chairs and the cash register — and promise to keep the floor.
