The atelier
It's only a paper moon. Your hair is real.
Elliot named the atelier after the song his grandmother hummed while she set his hair in pin curls. He opened it in 2012 on Cedar Springs, two blocks from the bars where he came out, with one rule: nobody gets a men's price or a women's price, only a price for the time the work takes.
The room is white oak, linen and paper lanterns, lit by tall north windows. The work is quiet and exact: pixies, crops, soft shags, silver toning and the slow, careful blondes Oak Lawn has trusted us with for fourteen years.
