Platinum, precision and genderless cutting in a black-walled studio on 16th Street. Quiet chairs, no small talk unless you want it, and hair that needs nothing added.
The studio
Ash trained as a photographer before switching to hair, and built Negative Space the way you'd build a studio for portraits: matte black walls, one wall of north light, and nothing on the counters that doesn't need to be there.
The work follows the same rule. Cuts are shaped for your face and your texture, not your gender. Blondes are lifted slowly to a clean, cool white. And we only add what the hair actually needs.

Mira took me from box-dye black to platinum over two visits and my hair still feels like hair. Patience is the luxury here.
Ash didn't talk me into anything. They asked three good questions, then cut the best crop of my life in total silence. Perfect.
My first affirming cut, in a private chair, with all the time I needed. I walked out feeling like the person I've always been.
Sasha's gunmetal is unreal. It reads silver in the sun and charcoal at night.
Dorian finally gave my coils a shape that holds without product. I keep touching my hair.
The quietest salon I've been to. I booked silence and got an hour of calm.

Good hair, like good design, is mostly about restraint. Take away what isn't needed and what's left is unmistakably you.
