Waves & curls · Downtown Edmond

The wave you were born with, finally cut for.

Curl-by-curl cutting and quiet, unhurried appointments for waves that frizz, curls that collapse and coils that have never been understood.

Meet Hazel

I keep a ledger of every curl.

I trained in classic precision cutting and spent years making straight hair behave. Then a client with 2C waves sat down and told me no one had ever cut her hair dry. I hadn't either. That afternoon changed my career.

I have kept a handwritten ledger of every curl cut since: pattern, porosity, what we tried, what worked. When you come back, I already know your hair. Atelier 6 holds one chair and one client, and the appointment takes as long as it takes.

Kind words from the chair

On my second visit she opened a notebook and read me what we'd tried in March. No one has ever paid that kind of attention to my hair.
Laura B.Returning curl cut
I thought my hair was just frizzy. Turns out it's 2B and wants to wave. Hazel cut it dry and it's never been better.
Natalie F.Wave-pattern shaping
Calm, exact and never rushed. It's the only appointment of my month I look forward to.

Good to know

Questions, answered

How should I arrive?

With your hair dry and worn the way you normally style it, without a ponytail or clips. Product is fine if it's what you usually use.

Why is the first visit ninety minutes?

I need time to learn your pattern, talk through your history and teach you the routine. It's the most important appointment we'll have.

Do you cut wavy hair?

Yes. Waves are often the most misunderstood pattern, and they're a large part of my book.

What's in the ledger?

Your pattern, porosity, products, what we tried and what worked, written after each visit. It stays in the atelier.

Do you do color?

Glosses only. For lightening I refer to colorists who understand curls.

How often should I come back?

Every ten to fourteen weeks for most curls; sooner for short shapes.
