Gus Delacroix, Blonding & gray colorist

Meet Gus

I have been mixing toner since 1998.

I started sweeping floors at a salon on South Congress when I was nineteen and stayed for the color room. My boss handed me a bowl and said, “Make it not yellow.” I have been doing exactly that ever since.

These days I work alone in a converted workroom in East Austin. I do blondes, icy and buttery, and I help people stop covering their gray and start wearing it. I will be honest about what your hair can do, and I will not let you leave brassy.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Can you fix brassy box-dye?

Usually, yes. It may take two sessions; I will tell you at the consult.

How long does toner last?

Six to eight weeks with purple shampoo once a week, not every day.

Can I go gray without a harsh line?

Yes. Gray blending lets the line grow out while you get used to it.

Do you do vivid colors?

No. Blondes, grays and the toners in between.

Do you cut too?

Clean-up cuts with color, yes. Big chops go to a cutter I trust.

Is it just you?

Just me. One client at a time, start to finish.
