Meet Ama
I learned on my auntie’s porch.
I was braiding cousins on my auntie’s porch in Accra long before I knew it could be a career. I moved to Houston in 2011 and have had my own chair ever since.
My rule is simple: if it pulls, I redo it. I part with a rat-tail comb and a steady hand, keep the tension light at your edges, and I start on time because I know you have a life after this.

Booking policy

- Deposit
- $40 deposit on every booking, applied to your style.
- Cancelling
- 48 hours to move your appointment; the deposit is kept after that.
- Running late
- Twenty minutes late and we may need to go a size up to finish on time.

Questions, answered
Is hair included?
Yes, pre-stretched braiding hair in the core colors is included. Human hair for boho curls is included too.
How should I come?
Washed, fully dry and blow-dried or stretched, with no product build-up.
Can I bring someone?
One guest is fine; the studio is small.
Do you braid kids?
Ages 8 and up, Saturdays only.
How long will my braids last?
Six to eight weeks. I will show you how to wrap them at night.
What if something feels too tight?
Tell me right away and I redo it. That is the rule.
