Afro, curl & braid studio · Third Ward, Houston

Big hair. Bigger joy.

Afro shaping, curl cuts, braids and puffs in a studio that plays old-school R&B, serves cold hibiscus tea and celebrates every inch of shrinkage.

Welcome to the social

Your hair is the party.

Kiana Duplessis opened Afro Pop Social on Emancipation Avenue because natural hair appointments should feel like a celebration, not a chore.

Six stylists shape afros, cut curls dry, braid crowns and press silk, while the speakers play Frankie Beverly and somebody's auntie always ends up dancing.

Our story

How the party started

Kiana opened the doors with three chairs, a borrowed sound system and a sign that said "Shrinkage welcome."

Read our story

Shrinkage is not a flaw. It is proof your curls are alive, and in this room we celebrate every inch of it, loudly, with the music up.
