Color maison · Upper King, Charleston
Soft, lived-in blonde and quiet brunette, painted by hand in a second-floor maison above King Street.
The maison
Céline Marchand trained in Lyon and moved to Charleston in 2012 with one belief: the best color looks like you were born with it, only luckier.
Five colorists work in a long, pale room with tall windows over King Street. No loud music, no rush, no brass. Just careful, hand-painted dimension and a gloss to finish every visit.

The most natural blonde I've ever had. People say I look rested, not "highlighted."
Naomi finally made my brunette cool and expensive-looking. No more orange by week four.
The room is so quiet I nearly fell asleep in the chair. In the best way.
Ruth blended my grey so softly my husband didn't notice for a month.
Céline corrected two years of box dye in two visits and never once made me feel bad about it.
They did my bridal hair and it looked like me, only calmer.
