Meet Karim

My grandfather kept a razor in Beirut.

I grew up sweeping the floor of my grandfather’s shop in Beirut, watching him strop a razor before the first customer of the day. When my family moved to Mobile I was eleven, and the only thing I wanted to be was him.

I have cut hair in Midtown since 2009. My chair is the third one by the window, I take one client at a time, and I never rush a shave. You will leave with a clean line, a calm face and a beard that sits the way you wanted it to.

Good to know

Questions, answered

Do you take walk-ins?

Rarely. I keep a one-chair schedule so nobody waits; call and I will tell you if a gap opened.

How often should I book?

Every three to four weeks for a taper, every two for a skin-tight neckline.

Is a razor shave safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. I prep longer, use a single blade and finish with alum and an unscented balm.

Can I bring a photo?

Please do. I will tell you honestly if your hair will do it.

Do you cut longer hair?

Yes, scissor work up to the collar. Past the shoulders I will send you to a stylist I trust.

What do you use on beards?

A cedar beard oil I blend myself and a boar-bristle brush. Both are for sale at the chair.
