Braid house · Bishop Arts, Dallas
Knotless, Fulani, goddess locs and bridal updos by four braiders who treat a full day in the chair like the luxury it should be.
The work
The house
Seven hours is a long time to sit. At Sovereign it's spent in a reclining velvet chair with a phone charger, a snack tray and a braider who checks your edges every hour.
Founder Adaeze Nwosu built the house in 2015 after years of rushed, painful braiding appointments. Gentle tension, pre-stretched hair and honest timing are the house rules.

Seven hours went by like a spa day. The velvet chair, the snacks, and not one sore spot on my edges.
Kemi braided my daughter and me side by side. Same parts, same care, both of us crying happy tears.
My goddess locs look so natural strangers ask how long I've been growing them.
Adaeze did my bridal crown and it survived a seven-hour reception in July.
