Meet Dottie
Thirty years in the back chair.
I got my license in 1994, the year nobody in Muskogee believed a woman could give a proper flattop. I have been proving it in the back chair ever since, and some of my first customers now bring their grandsons.
I cut with clippers, a flattop comb and a lot of patience. I will tell you the truth about your cowlick, I remember how you like your sideburns, and I do not rush anybody out of my chair.

Do you take walk-ins?
Saturday mornings after 10, and weekdays if you catch me between appointments.
Do you cut women’s hair?
Short clipper cuts, yes. Anything with layers, I will send you to a friend down the street.
Can I bring a little one for a first haircut?
Please do. I save the curl in an envelope for you.
Do you do fades?
Tapers and classic fades, yes. Designs, no; I leave those to the young folks.
How often should a flattop be cut?
Every two to three weeks to keep it flat.
Do you take checks?
I do. I have been in this town long enough.
