Woman with a sea-glass teal bob, seen from behind, standing in misty blue water

Chapter 01 — Bayfront, Corpus Christi, TX

Vivid color studio · Bayfront, Corpus Christi

Go off the deep end.

Teal, cobalt, sea-glass and midnight indigo, painted by colorists who grew up on the Gulf and know exactly how saltwater and sun treat blue hair.

Chapter one

Blue is the hardest color to keep. So we learned it best.

Marisa grew up swimming in the bay and dyeing her hair every color of the water. When she opened a studio on Water Street, she built it around the shade nobody else on the coast would promise: a blue that lasts.

Blue dye fades toward green in sun and chlorine, so we tone against it from the first appointment. We mix to your water, your shower and your routine, and every client leaves with a shade card and the exact formula on file.

Three months, two beach trips and a pool party later, my teal is still teal. That has never happened before.

Tomás gave me indigo on black hair with no bleach. In the sun it looks like a raven's wing.

The ocean ombré is a work of art. People literally stop me on the seawall.

They gave me a shade card and my formula number. When I moved to Austin, my new colorist matched it exactly.

Free anti-green gloss after my first beach weekend. That kind of detail is why I keep coming back.
