Our story

Rooted in care,
grown in community.

Crown & Coil started in Simone Adeyemi's kitchen in 2019 — a few regulars, a ring light and a promise: no tension headaches, no edges sacrificed. Five years later we're a four-chair studio on NW 16th with a team of braiders and loctitians who treat your scalp like it matters.

We work with every texture from 3A to 4C, keep our parts clean and our appointments on time, and send every client home with a care plan for the weeks between visits.

Is braiding hair included?

Yes — all braid services include pre-stretched, itch-free braiding hair in colors 1, 1B, 2, 4, 27, 30 and 613. Specialty colors or human-hair curls for boho styles may add $20–$60.

How should I prep my hair before my appointment?

Come with hair washed, fully detangled and blow-dried unless your service includes a wash. No heavy oils or gels, please. For loc retwists, come as you are — we wash in the studio.

Do you require a deposit?

A $35 non-refundable deposit secures your appointment and goes toward your total. Reschedule with 48 hours' notice and your deposit transfers.

What's your late policy?

We have a 15-minute grace period. After that, we may need to shorten the style or reschedule so the next client isn't kept waiting.

Can I bring my kids or a guest?

Kids with appointments are always welcome! For long installs we ask that you come solo so everyone can relax — Wi-Fi, snacks and a phone charger are on us.

How long will my braids or locs style last?

Knotless braids last 4–6 weeks with proper care. Loc retwists are typically every 4–6 weeks; interlocking every 8–12 weeks. We'll give you a care card with a schedule.
