Chapter 01 — Broad Street, Texarkana, TX
Hair house · Downtown Texarkana
Cuts, color and blowouts under sixteen-foot ceilings and the tall windows of a restored 1910 cotton exchange.
Chapter one · The building
In 1910 this room was full of brokers shouting prices across the floor. In 2017 Mara found it full of pigeons, plaster and the most beautiful north-facing windows in East Texas.
Three years of restoration later, the old trading floor holds eight chairs, a wash room in the former vault and the truest color light in town.

Mara walked me to the window to look at my color before she mixed a thing. My blonde has never looked this natural outside.
Getting my hair washed in a 1910 bank vault is the most Texarkana thing I’ve ever done, and I love it.
Jonah’s cut grew out perfectly for ten weeks. Ten!
The room is so beautiful I forgot I was getting a color correction. It turned out perfect, too.
